Syn is a great goddess. She is the “sieve” to filter out all impurities.
Impurities are termed as sin. It is not appropriate for a man to be other that perfectly pure. Until he is, he cannot bear the name “man”.

-How do we rid ourselves of impurities?

-By nýsa niður, transcend the realm of thoughts. As simple as that.
In time we shall be pure enough to enter the golden-leaved wood, Glasir.
The name  Syn is related to sattva, sannur (true,Truth) and to sin, synþ.
