Ægir is the unfathomable abyss of Waters, the Great Void, ginnungagap.

Ægir is an epithet for ocean, thus an ocean deity. Has allegoric meaning too: “our innermost consciousness”.

Here, our goddess Rán (pronounce: raun) abides. She is the perfect orderliness in Ægir. Her name literally means, etymologically: perfect orderliness.

Eldir and Fimafengur, serve us when we enjoy the feast at Ægis. That is what their names imply. We should understand names as they tell half the story.

At Ægis, i.e. at the feast in the halls of Ægir, we are offered divine nourishment.

We plunge into Ægir, again and again, ever deeper, i.e.: we transcend the sphere of thought to the origin of thought, Ægir, and — in time — we shall become pure.

Our forefathers’ analogy / similarity of the ocean, as symbolic language, is: active on the surface, silent in the depths.

-Where is that “inner” something, and how do we enjoy that?

-We should know that it is already here, and we should not be stuck (mentally) on the beautiful turbulent enjoyable surface only.
Ránardætur, daughters of Rán, the visible waves, are our surface life.

Ránardætur - daughters of Rán
Ránardætur – daughters of Rán

We live in Miðgarður of men for the purpose of spiritual evolution, in the midst of the 9*) Ránar dætur (Rán’s daughters): Bára, Blóðughadda, Bylgja, Dúfa, Hefring, Himinglæva, Hrönn, Kólga, and Unnur. We should understand names. Names tell half the story.

By diving far below them, we imbibe the perfect orderliness, which is mirrored from ginnungagap into the universe  — in which we spend our many life-spans.
(Life-span Icelandic ævi.)

Daughters of Rán, Ránardætur, are the perfect orderliness mirrored from the perfection in the unfathomable profundity into creation, our universe, our life. We plunge into Ægir, into our own consciousness, to imbibe that orderliness.

We allow our mind to sink to the source of thought. The easiest act in life, if we learn the natural easy technique, TM (TM.org).

Mind always seeks bliss, and here pure bliss is to be found – what we actually are. Diving is easy and automatic, when we have learned it.
